Dr. Mavani is committed to ensuring that all children under the age of 5 years receive routine developmental screenings. Beaumont Hospital and Oakland University’s School of Education/Early Childhood Department are recipients of the 2011 OU-Beaumont Multidisciplinary Research Award. Co-investigators Dr. Jay Eastman and Dr. Julie Ricks-Doneen, along with Lisa Sturges from the Great Start Collaborative-Oakland County are collaborating on a research project to provide technical assistance to three (3) pediatric practices to use the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) during well child-visits, and to study the processes involved as the pediatric practices implement this developmental screening tool and refer families to community resources that may support their child’s further assessment and development. Dr. Mavani is one of these three sites.

Ages and Stages Questionnaires - SE
Because your child’s first 5 years of life are so important, we want to help you provide the best start for your child. You’ve been invited to participate in the Ages & Stages Questionnaires: Social Emotional (ASQ:SE) to help you keep track of your child’s social and emotional development. The questionnaire may be provided for use at 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 48, or 60 months of age. You will be asked to answer questions about some of your child’s behaviors. The questionnaire includes questions about your child’s ability to calm down, take direction and follow rules, communicate, perform daily activities (e.g., eating, sleeping), act independently, demonstrate feelings, and interact with others.
